Pitt women’s basketball head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio and the Panthers will face their first ACC opponent, Miami, on Monday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.

Pitt women’s basketball head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio unveiled the team’s full 2016-2017 schedule Thursday, with nine consecutive home games scheduled at the Petersen Events Center to start the season.

The Panthers’ season starts Nov. 12, with a home game against Mount St. Mary’s, and features several interesting non-conference matchups before the daunting ACC slate begins.

Pitt will host the Purdue Boilermakers at the Pete for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 30. The Panthers and Boilermakers will meet for the second time in the history of the programs, with Pitt taking the first matchup, 66-62, in 1980.

For their first road game, the Panthers will travel to State College, Pennsylvania, to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions Dec. 10. The in-state rivals haven’t faced each other since 2009, when Penn State defeated Pitt at the Bryce Jordan Center, 77-73.

The Panthers will welcome cross-town rival Duquesne –– fresh off the winningest season in program history including a 79-65 win over Pitt a year ago –– to the Petersen Events Center Dec. 29, before opening conference play at home against the Miami Hurricanes Jan. 2.
