Vice Provost and Dean of Students Kenyon Bonner named Jill Krantz Pitt’s new executive director of campus recreation on Wednesday.

Krantz is primarily charged with overseeing the construction of the new wellness and recreation center on O’Hara Street — now slated to open in 2023.

“Jill has the demonstrated leadership ability, professional knowledge and enthusiasm to lead the University in this next stage of campus development,” Bonner said. “My team and I are looking forward to working closely with Jill as she gets to know Pitt and brings her own vision for how to best serve our students, staff and faculty.”

Krantz served as associate athletics director and department director of intramural recreational sports for more than six years at the University of Virginia. Before then, she served as the facility manager at the Chilson Recreation/Senior Center in Loveland, Colorado.

She will also oversee fitness, aquatics and outdoor programs, campus recreation facilities, operations, personnel and budget, as well as programs and services relating to intramural and club recreation sports.

“It’s especially exciting to be involved in helping to shape the future of campus recreation and to work with an incredible team,” Krantz said.

Pitt spokesperson Kevin Zwick said in an email that Marilyn Ross, the University’s director for campus recreation, will continue in that role and report to Krantz.
