McCoy, Pitt’s leading rusher and a first-team All-Big East selection the last two years, said in December that he planned to return for his junior year. However, reports came out last Thursday night that he was leaning toward declaring early. McCoy met with Wannstedt and decided to take the weekend to speak with his family and decide. When he spoke to Wannstedt this afternoon, he informed the coach that he needed more time. Wannstedt told McCoy to take as much time as he needs for the decision. But the deadline for underclassmen to file paperwork to enter the draft is Thursday, so the decision must be made in the next two days. If he decides to enter, McCoy is expected to be a late first-round or early second-round selection.
