Discuss, a band now settled in Pittsburgh, hails from its Puerto Rican homeland with unique electronic stylings.

Representing the United States are the Philadelphia psych-poppers of Make A Rising, along with Pittsburgh instrumental band In the Wake of Giants.

“We wanted to bring bands that don’t get to play in Pittsburgh, and we got lucky and got bands who don’t really get to play in the U.S., either,” said WPTS-FM productions director Varun Bhandari. Promotions director Jeremy Zerbe agreed.

“When bands come to us, we see if they fit, and I think it’s cool to showcase these bands that don’t get lots of play,” Zerbe said, adding that one group’s popularity might soon spike.

Civil Twilight’s song, “Human” was recently featured on “House,” and its other single, “Letters from the Sky” was used in advertisements for Fox show, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

General admission to “Rock U.N.” is $5, and doors open at 8 p.m.
