Senior Warren Barnes, from Pickering, Ontario, has been a standout swimmer throughout his career at Pitt, achieving top times in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events within the team and at meets.

Most recently, his efforts at the Big East championships aided the men’s team to a third-place finish overall. He left the three-day meet with a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, a second-place finish and a best time in the 100 breaststroke, a fourth-place finish as part of the 400-medley relay team and a third-place finish and school record as part of the 200-medley relay team.

As of now, Barnes is hoping to make an appearance at the 2008 Olympics as part of the Canadian swim team, and there’s a “90 percent chance,” he said, that he’ll be competing for Pitt at the NCAA tournament.
