For the first time since Feb. 10, 2014, Pitt’s men’s basketball team has cracked the AP Top 25 poll.

The Panthers (12-1, 1-0 ACC) entered at No. 24 in the poll released Monday after knocking off Syracuse and Maryland Eastern Shore last week.

Pitt is the sixth-highest ACC team in this week’s polls, receiving 103 total votes. Virginia, North Carolina, Miami, Duke and Louisville round out the other five ranked conference teams.

In the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, Pitt jumped from No. 25 to No. 21, with 121 votes.

This week, the Panthers face Georgia Tech at home on Wednesday before traveling to Notre Dame on Jan. 9.
