Pitt finally ended its UNC losing streak in an overtime thriller, besting the Tar Heels 34-27 on the strength of a final defensive stand.

Pitt's luck changed with an overtime golden goal from first-year forward Amanda West, whose header in the 94th minute put Pitt up 2-1 and gave the Panthers their first conference win since Oct. 9, 2016.

Despite dropping its first set of the season, Pitt volleyball emerged with its 27th straight home win over No. 10 Oregon Wednesday night.

While Pitt’s 24-3 loss against Miami on Saturday was far from good, the implications weren’t too bad. Aside from snapping its four game win streak, the loss will likely drop them from the top 25 rankings and give them a lesser bowl game. But Pitt will still be playing in the ACC Championship on Saturday.
