Minnesota Vikings draft T.J. Clemmings

The Minnesota Vikings selected former Pitt offensive tackle T.J. Clemmings with the 110thoverall pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

Clemmings’ fourth round pick follows up the selections of former Pitt players Aaron Donald, Tom Savage and Devin Street in last year’s NFL Draft.

After starting his career on defense in 2010, Clemmings redshirted his second year, then switched to the offensive side of the ball for his junior season in 2013. Since then, he has started all 26 games Pitt has played.

Clemmings’ pre-draft rank had been in flux since the NFL Combine, when X-Rays revealed a stress fracture in his foot.

CBS Sports projected him as a second round pick, 50th overall, while ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. rated him as a first rounder.

“I like Clemmings,” Kiper said to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “He has a defensive mentality. He finishes blocks, he’s athletic and he has the right attitude.”
