The Pitt football team suspended two of its players for the entirety of the 2013 season Monday for disciplinary reasons.
Khaynin Mosley-Smith, a junior defensive tackle and Ronald Jones, a junior wide receiver, will not be permitted to play next season after infractions committed earlier in the year, according to Senior Associate Athletic Director E.J. Borghetti.
Mosley-Smith’s suspension stemmed from an incident that occurred last April when police raided a South Oakland home where a man was allegedly selling heroin. Mosley-Smith and two former members of the team—Eric Williams and Andrew Carswell—received summonses for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Unlike Williams and Carswell, who were dismissed from the team, Mosley-Smith was suspended indefinitely.
Borghetti did not disclose what led to Jones’s suspension.
Last season, Mosley-Smith totaled eight tackles in 13 games. Jones, who was also the team’s starting punt returner, had seven receptions for 66 yards last season.
