For those hoping for a little more amore in their lives, Oakland will be getting itself a new Italian restaurant.
Piada Italian Street Food, a chain of fast casual eateries similar in style to Chipotle, is planning to expand into Pennsylvania for the first time with a shop at 3600 Forbes Avenue — the former site of Quaker Steak and Lube. A company spokesperson said they hoped to have the shop open by late November.
For hungry Pitt students, the menu offers up a mix of salads, pasta and wraps with Italian ingredients like arugula, calamari and pesto.
Piada — which was founded in 2010 with a location in Columbus, Ohio — currently has more than 30 shops in five states and another four locations planned, including the one in Oakland.
The company has yet to announce plans for further expansion in Pennsylvania.
