With an hour and a half left before the polling stations close, poll workers have seen multitudes of voters throughout the morning and afternoon.

At Wesley Posvar Hall, Judge of Elections James Love said his polling station had seen 927 voters by 6:15 p.m. Although the line was only several people deep at that time, Love said the lines had spread throughout the first floor earlier in the day. The station was busiest between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Alethea Sims, 60, is the Judge of Elections at the polling station in the William Pitt Union. By 6:15 p.m., Sims said nearly 1,800 people had gone through the station.

Sims, who worked the polls for the 2008 election as well, said that nearly 2,200 people voted at the Union polling station two election cycles ago.

“I grew up at the polls and my mother ran polls when I was growing up,” Sims said. “It’s a part of me.”

Although the polling station doors will be closed at 8 p.m., Sims said anyone in line by that time will be allowed to vote, regardless of when they submit their ballot.
