Melissa Rubin, a spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewage Authority, said the museum’s six-inch fireline is owned by a private contractor. In order for the contractor to fix the leak, PWSA had to shut off its own six-inch line, which supplies water to the Union.
Rubin said PWSA had no control over the repair time but estimated that the water should be back on in the Union by 5:30 p.m. on Monday. She was not available for comment after that, and as of press time, the water still was not working in the Union.
