The Panthers will face Temple at Heinz Field this season as the Owls take the place of West Virginia on Pitt’s schedule. West Virginia will join the Big 12 Conference in 2012.
Temple played in the Big East Conference from 1991-2004. The Big East removed the University due to low attendance and the Owls never won more than four games.
“We congratulate our in-state friends at Temple on their back to the Big East and are pleased to welcome them back to Heinz Field in the fall,” Pitt athletic director Steve Pederson said in a release. “With Temple joining the league for football in 2012, our full schedule is now complete.”
Pitt’s non-conference schedule is as follows:
Sept. 1: Youngstown State
Sept. 15: Virginia Tech
Sept. 22: Gardner-Webb
Oct. 6: at Buffalo
Nove. 3: at Notre Dame
Pitt’s Big East schedule:
Home: Louisville, Rutgers, Temple
Away: Cincinnati, Connecticut, Syracuse, USF
