Pitt police is searching for a man who robbed the Jimmy John’s on Forbes Avenue Friday evening, according to a crime alert sent out to students.
Pitt police and City police responded shortly after 6 p.m. to a report made by an employee at the sandwich shop. The employee said the robber, a black man about 50 years old, claimed he had a gun, though the employee did not see it.
According to the alert, the suspect told the employee to open the cash register and hand over the money inside. After taking the money, the suspect fled east on Forbes Avenue.
The suspect is described as a black man about 50 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slender build and a salt-and-pepper beard. The man wore a thick flannel jacket, black pants and a beanie cap.
Police requested that anyone with information call City police at 412-422-6520, referencing CCR #19- 212865 in the call, or call Pitt police at 412-624-2121 and reference report #19-03310.
