Elsie R. Broussard, 87, crashed her car into a parked vehicle on the 700 block of Devonshire Street.
Police reported the incident at 12:06 p.m. as dead on arrival.
The Allegheny Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed that Broussard died of natural causes.
Pitt spokesman John Fedele confirmed that Broussard held a faculty emeritus in psychiatry at Pitt.
Broussard published research relating to child psychiatry. Some of her articles include research on infant attachment, maternal perceptions of emotional and developmental deviations in children and neonatal predictions and outcomes from a longitudinal study of firstborns.
