Pitt mum on conference move reports

University officials have declined to comment on reports from various media organizations that… University officials have declined to comment on reports from various media organizations that Pitt has applied to join the Atlantic Coast Conference.

E.J. Borghetti, a Pitt athletics spokesman, said that the University wouldn’t comment on the report, which has quickly spread across more than half a dozen newspapers and other media outlets including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Associated Press and New York Times.

The reports all state that Pitt and Syracuse have applied to join the ACC, currently a 12-member conference. The report from the Post-Gazette states that Pitt will announce the move soon.
