The board’s nominating committee tapped two Pitt alumni, Roberta Luxbacher and Thomas Richards, for membership on the board in the 10-minute public section of the meeting.
All seven names will go before the full board during its meeting June 24.
Suzanne Broadhurst, the vice chairperson on the board, recognized the meeting was short but said that a lot of thought went into it.
“I know that went quickly, but a combination of a lot of hours, discussion and hard work went into these decisions,” Broadhurst said.
Luxbacher, who earned her B.S. in chemical engineering from Pitt in 1978, now serves as vice president of Global Industrial and Wholesale, a part of Exxon Mobil Fuels marketing Company of ExxonMobil Corporation.
Luxbacher started working for Exxon in 1978 and has worked her way up the ladder, holding various positions including director of ExxonMobil International Limited and vice president of Europe Gas and Power Marketing in London, UK, before being named to her current position in 2009.
During her time at Pitt, Luxbacher was a University Scholar and a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers. In 2011 she received the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Swanson School of Engineering.
Richards, the other nominee, earned his BA in economics from Pitt in 1976 and played on the men’s varsity basketball team, ranking 11th on the University’s all-time scoring list.
He currently serves as president, chief operating officer and executive committee member of CDW LLC, a company that provides technology products and services to business, government, education and the health care sector.
The meeting also had 5 resolutions, which all passed, to re-elect various members of the board for their positions. Stephen Tritch was renominated as chair of the board, Suzanne Broadhurst and Robert Hernandez were both renominated to serve as vice chairs, along with other members who were renominated to remain in their current roles.
