The National Weather Service issued a Severe Tornado Warning for Allegheny County that lasts… The National Weather Service issued a Severe Tornado Warning for Allegheny County that lasts until 6 p.m. today.

The warning, on the service’s website, also said that the storm would include damaging winds, cloud-to-ground lightning and hail. Hail as thick as a quarter of an inch has been falling on campus intermittently since 4 p.m.

People outside should move into a strong shelter and stay away from windows, according to the service’s website.

A Tornado Watch — a less urgent warning — will remain in effect for southwestern Pennsylvania until 9 p.m.
