One day after winning the Big East regular season championship, the Pitt men’s basketball team… One day after winning the Big East regular season championship, the Pitt men’s basketball team added two more accolades to its name as guards Ashton Gibbs and Brad Wanamaker were named to All-Big East teams as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Gibbs, who leads the team with 16.4 points per game, was named to the All-Big East first team while Wanamaker, who averages 11.9 points per game, was named to the Second Team.

With the award, Gibbs becomes the ninth player in school history to be named to the All-Big East first team.

This season Wanamaker, a senior, became one of only two Pitt players to ever record over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists.

Gibbs joins Connecticut’s Kemba Walker, Georgetown’s Austin Freeman, Notre Dame’s Ben Hansbrough, Marshon Brooks of Providence and Dwight Hardy from St. John’s on the All-Big East first team.
