Police issue crime alert after robbery attempt in N. Oakland

Pitt police are searching for a suspect in relation to an attempted robbery that occured Friday… Pitt police are searching for a suspect in relation to an attempted robbery that occured Friday morning, Nov. 19, in North Oakland.

According to a crime alert posted on Pitt buildings and on the Pitt police website, no one was injured in the attempted robbery.

A man told police that he was approached by a tall black man just before 9 a.m. on Friday at Robinson Street Extension and Centre Avenue. The suspect tried to rob the victim and failed. It was not apparent if the suspect had a weapon.

The suspect — around 30 years old and wearing a long, black fluffy coat — then fled down Robinson Street Extension toward Centre and Herron avenues, according to the crime alert.
