“It has nothing to do with Pitt,” said an officer who did not give her name.

The officer said she did not have all the information concerning the hostage situation, including the age of the deceased.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that police found a man dead an apartment building on 114 Moultrie Street around 11 p.m.  The man, who died of an apparent gun shot wound to the head, barricaded himself in the apartment building after a dispute with his landlord.

The landlord called the police around 8 p.m. to report that one of her tenants fired a shot at her, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Police blocked off the area, as well as Birmingham Bridge and parts of Fifth Avenue immediately after the report.
