The Scarlet Knights got on the board first when they took advantage of a Charlie Noonan interception that set them up at the Pitt 49-yard line and capped the drive off with a Joe Martinek 1-yard touchdown.

The Panthers responded on the next drive as tight end Mike Cruz caught a 3-yard touchdown from quarterback Tino Sunseri.

Pitt took a 14-7 lead when Ray Graham made Rutgers safety Joe Lefeged miss and Graham ran the ball in for a 13-yard touchdown.

But Rutgers evened the score when a blocked Dan Hutchins punt was recovered by Brandon Bing in the end zone with 2:12 left in the half.

Sunseri’s been efficient so far, completing 12 of 16 passes for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception. At one point in the second quarter he had completed 10 straight passes.
