The alert, posted around University buildings but not on Pitt police’s website, said that a woman reported being assaulted on University Drive outside of Eberly Hall at about 1:35 a.m. The suspect struggled with the woman before fleeing on foot, according to the alert.
The report did not specify if the woman was injured.
She reported being assaulted by a white male in his 20s with a medium build and black hair. He was wearing jeans and an “olive military-style jacket,” according to the crime alert.
Pitt spokesman John Fedele could not immediately be reached for comment.
Police are searching for the suspect, and anyone with information can call 412-624-2121.
