Photos: Pittsburgh celebrates Juneteenth at Point State Park, Market Square

Pittsburghers commemorated Juneteenth through various events and celebrations over the weekend. Also known as Freedom Day, the day commemorates the emancipation of all enslaved people in the United States and was officially declared a federal holiday in 2021.

The Juneteenth Homecoming Celebration at Point State Park included a four day schedule of events featuring musical performances, dancing, food and vendors selling art and goods. On Sunday, attendees of the Homecoming Celebration enjoyed a performance from American singer Erica Campbell, as well as other family activities.

As part of the Juneteenth celebrations Market Square also had booths run by Black-owned businesses and artists, as well as performances by local bands.
