The team is joining… Some Pitt students will get the chance to go to a Penguins game for free.
The team is joining ImaginePittsburgh.com, run by the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, to fill the arena with local students when the team takes on the Columbus Blue Jackets in a preseason game at 7 p.m. Sept. 25.
The site will give out 8,000 free tickets, which will go to students from Pitt and other schools. To enter to win tickets, students can go to ImaginePittsburgh.com at 9 a.m. Thursday.
“The young people of this region are such an important part of our fan base — and such a key to our future — and we thought the perfect way to say thank you was to create a ‘free game’ for students,” Penguins CEO David Morehouse said in a press release.
The team added the third home game this preseason to create the “Ultimate Home Game” and generate a sellout crowd.
