In the April 8 article “Pitt turns it blue, gold and green for sustainability festival,” he elaborates on one of the forces driving environmental practices today — students.
Pitt is a verydiverse school, which trains its students to become global thinkers. With Pitt’s Student Sustainability Symposium and other events heating up before Earth Day, students have shown they serve an important role in the climate change discussion.
With organizations like the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation, a green engineering think tank, Pitt is driving the technology and theory that will provide our nation with environmental momentum. We should support comprehensive federal climate and energy legislation, which will generate homegrown green jobs and require energy conservation, a new renewable energy development. Policies like these ensure that we will have good opportunities as we enter the workforce.
To see a vision of the future, just look at the students of Pitt. We will help to provide a breath of fresh air to the environment and economy.
