The Pitt News is home to an incredible and dynamic staff of nearly 200 editors, photographers, illustrators and writers that work nearly every day of the week for the publication. As an entirely student-run organization, Pitt students make up the entirety of the leadership ladder.
At the helm are the editor-in-chief and the managing editor, who are responsible for daily operations and strategies for TPN’s future. If you hear us saying something along the lines of “The Pitt News is my life,” it’s probably because that’s the truth! Along with our team of editors, we work each day and night to ensure the most important and entertaining stories are reaching our readership.
Please reach out to us with any feedback, story ideas, letters to the editor or op-eds if there’s a topic that interests you in particular.
Ryleigh Lord, Editor-in-Chief
Hi! My name is Ryleigh and I am a senior double majoring in history and English writing with a minor in Irish. I’ve been working at TPN since my second semester at Pitt and have held a variety of positions throughout my time here, including news staff writer, summer culture editor and head news editor.
The Pitt News quickly became one of my favorite parts of college — there’s nothing like the rush of a late night in the office polishing up a story. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in journalism or political communications and work every day to bring people information they need to know — which, luckily enough, is also what we do here at TPN. I cannot wait to see what this year brings, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead and support this group.
Outside of religiously following news stories and getting classwork done, I can usually be found watching an Arsenal WFC game, trying to convince my friends to take a spontaneous beach trip or creating Spotify playlists for my every mood and emotion.
Brian Sherry, Managing Editor
Hey everyone! I’m Brian and I am a history major on a pre-law track. The Pitt News has given me some of my favorite memories from my time at college. From driving eight hours round trip to cover Pitt men’s basketball’s March Madness run to giving a presentation at Harvard University, I feel like I’ve gotten so much out of this organization and I can’t wait to see where the paper takes me as Managing Editor.
Outside of The Pitt News, I can be found hanging on the side of a rock climbing wall, hiking up some tall mountains or playing pool around Oakland. After I graduate, I plan to attend law school and become a media rights or corporate lawyer.
