Injured person found in Cathedral this morning

The Pitt police are investigating the case. They referred all questions to University spokesman John Fedele, who said, “No foul play is suspected.”

Fedele said the person was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The University typically does not release the status of people injured on campus, citing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which protects people’s health information.

Fedele declined to give the name of the injured person saying, “the incident is still under investigation.” He did not know whether the person’s family had been notified.

Representatives for the county medical examiner’s office said they did not believe any of the bodies they had received this morning were from anyone who had been found in the Cathedral of Learning.
