Hillman Library was evacuated after a light ballast burned out Wednesday afternoon.
Hillman staff members saw smoke and pulled a fire alarm at approximately 4:37 p.m., according to Pitt spokesman John Fedele.
The fire department cleared the situation, Fedele said, and people reentered the building as of 4:58 p.m.
