Pitt football head coach Dave Wannstedt announced today the dismissal of defensive back Elijah… Pitt football head coach Dave Wannstedt announced today the dismissal of defensive back Elijah Fields from the program for disciplinary reasons.

During his three active seasons at Pitt, Fields — a fifth-year senior — played in 32 career games andstarted eight. He had 34 tackles and three intecerptions last season.

Fields, who had a history of disciplinary problems, was previously suspended from the team during the 2007 season.
