Junior Elijah Fields replaced Taglianetti in Pitt’s 54-27 win.
Because of the injury, Taglianetti will be a candidate for a medical redshirt and will undergo surgery in the near future.
“Our entire team is very disappointed for Andrew,” Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt said in a statement released today. “He is an important performer on and off the field for us. The silver lining is he can receive a medical redshirt.”
Taglianetti started both games this season for Pitt (2-0) and had four tackles and one fumble recovery.
