Leader’s visit to cancel Cathedral classes Thursday afternoon

Tomorrow afternoon’s classes in the Cathedral of Learning have been canceled in preparation… Tomorrow afternoon’s classes in the Cathedral of Learning have been canceled in preparation for a major world leader’s appearance at Pitt.

A message from the Provost’s Office, posted on Pitt’s website, asked professors teaching in the Cathedral of Learning to dismiss their classes by noon to accommodate the event.

A major world leader who’s in town for the G-20 Summit will speak in the Cathedral of Learning tomorrow afternoon, sources knowledgeable of the event said on a condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak about it.

Officials from the leader’s country asked Pitt to withhold the individual’s identity until tomorrow, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs Robert Hill said.

Read tomorrow’s Pitt News or visit www.pittnews.com tomorrow morning for the identity of the speaker and more details about the event.
