For what critical purpose was this spot sponsored by this tax-exempt, non-profit institution? Simply to congratulate the Pittsburgh Steelers on their great victory, of course! Is the University so swimming in cash that it can afford to engage in such nonsense? I also must note the irony in praising a victory which served as a catalyst in bringing together the drunken mobs who terrorized Oakland and the South Side through their post-Super Bowl engagement in destruction and attacks on law enforcement authorities as the focus of their ‘celebration.’ If the University has student and taxpayer money to burn for worthless advertising as well as for providing spectacular salaries to its chancellor and basketball coach, it should be stripped of its tax-exempt status and its enormous state appropriation.
