Blair entered Pitt’s Saturday contest against Georgetown, matched up against Hoyas’ center Greg Monroe, a top freshman in the Big East who has snagged endless national attention in the last month. But Blair made sure the day ‘- and all the attention ‘- belonged to him on Saturday. Blair scored 20 points and added 17 rebounds, and the rest of Pitt followed, pounding No. 11 Georgetown 70-54 in the nation’s capital ‘- snapping Georgetown’s 29-game home winning streak. ‘We took it as a statement game,’ said Blair. ‘I think we showed we can play with a lot of teams, with any team.’ Pitt (14-0) started the game with six quick, unanswered points and didn’t trail the rest of the way. It took a three-point lead into halftime and came out even stronger, leading by as much as 20 toward the end of the game. Pitt senior forward Sam Young scored 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting, and Tyrell Biggs added another 14, going 7 for 10 from the field.
