Titus Howard dismissed from Pitt football program

After missing the entire 2014 season due to a suspension for disciplinary reasons, sophomore defensive back Titus Howard has been dismissed from the University of Pittsburgh football program, the school announced Monday.

No reason other than “violation of team policy” was given for the player’s dismissal.

Howard, a former star at Clairton High School, showed promise his freshman year in 2013, starting two games and totalling 21 tackles and two pass breakups as a first year player.

The young defensive back’s year-long suspension on this past August came as a shock to followers of the program. No details other than that the suspension was “disciplinary” were released by the University.

With Howard’s absence this past season, freshmen Patrick Amara and Avonte Maddox played well in place of the sophomore. First year head coach Pat Narduzzi will rely on the two– along with Lafayette Pitts, Reggie Mitchell and incoming four-star recruit Jordan Whitehead- to help replace whatever production they expected from the departing defensive back.
