To the Editor, ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ I agree with yesterday’s The Pitt News editorial urging President… To the Editor, ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ I agree with yesterday’s The Pitt News editorial urging President Barack Obama to push for the rescinding of the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ rule in the military. ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Sexual orientation has no impact on one’s proficiency in the military. Consequently, this rule stems entirely from religious dogma against homosexuality and therefore can have no place in governmental decision making. ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Paraphrasing the heroic former Republican Sen. Barry Goldwater: It does not matter whether one is straight in order to shoot straight. Amesh Adalja, MD UPMC
