Barack Obama for president. You claim that while both Obama and Sen. John McCain promise change, Obama offers a better direction and superior leadership. How someone with Obama’s voting record can be considered progressive ‘mdash; in any sense of the term ‘mdash; simply boggles my mind.’ ‘ ‘ ‘ Obama has consistently voted to increase war funding. When pressed, he has said that he is unsure of how he would have voted had he been in the Senate at the time of the Iraq invasion, since he did not have access to classified information at the time. ‘ ‘ ‘ Obama has railed against Bush’s ‘failed economics,’ but like Bush and McCain, Obama is a supporter of the Keynesian school of economics. Recently, Obama voted with Bush and McCain in support of the bailout legislation, a monstrosity of a bill that sugar-coats upwards of $700 billion in corporate welfare with more than $100 billion of pork. ‘ ‘ ‘ Obama has encouraged a cult of personality to plaster over his lack of credibility on the issues. Although ample verbiage was dedicated to comparing Obama to McCain, nowhere does the endorsement mention the other candidates who are on the ballot in this area. I encourage readers to seriously consider Barr and Nader, and to join me in rejecting the false choice between two evils that The Pitt News has chosen to embrace.
