Swimmer earns honors

Volovetski, who was named the Big East Most Outstanding Diver earlier this season, placed third in the preliminaries and eighth in the finals of the 1-meter diving event.

He is the fifth Panther to garner All-American honors and only the third under head coach Chuck Knoles.

“This was the biggest meet of his life,” Knoles said.

Senior Jeremy Stultz competed alongside Volovetski in the 3-meter event. Neither one made the finals, as Stultz earned a top-25 finish with 302.6 points for 23rd place. Volovetski trailed behind him with 292.9 for 26th.

“Both were very disappointed,” Knoles said. “But it was a very, very tight competition this year.”
