The project features 80 nude photographs of women in all stages of life, from birth to age 94. Each picture is accompanied by a statement written about or by the photographed woman, identified by her first name.
The statements tell moving stories of body image, sex, anorexia and abuse, among other somber topics. Many of the photographs function as physical evidence of the women’s stories by displaying their expressive faces, frailty and scars. “The Century Project” puts a great emphasis on removing the assumption that nudity and sex must always go hand in hand.
