EDITORIAL – Revitalizing Pittsburgh, without Paris’ help

Whether we are Pittsburghers born and raised or newcomers who have come to adopt Pittsburgh as… Whether we are Pittsburghers born and raised or newcomers who have come to adopt Pittsburgh as our home away from home, we are all proud to be living in this vibrant and scenic city and to call ourselves “Pittsburghers.”

Pittsburgh’s capacity for renewal is unquestionable and inspirational. It has managed to overcome its image as the smoky, steel city that once rested beneath a thick layer of smog, and emerge anew as one of America’s most beautiful and livable cities.

And there is no reason that revitalization and renewal should stop now. Improvements can still be made, as Pittsburgh is far from perfect. For this reason, we support the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s efforts to make Pittsburgh a livelier city.

Funded through a $1 million grant from the Colcom Foundation, the partnership aims to, according to the Post-Gazette, “convert vacant or under-used upper floors into apartments in the hope of providing more affordable options for people who want to live Downtown
