At Tuesday’s meeting, Link announced that he will respond to student concerns about safety procedures for a gunman-related emergency on Pitt’s campus.
Link discussed police precautions and procedures with Pitt police Chief Tim Delaney yesterday because of concerns expressed to him by students about Pitt’s safety in light of the recent campus shooting, in which a gunman killed five students, injured 18 others and then took his own life.
The safety issues will be further addressed at next week’s SGB meeting.
Link said that one of the most important things Pitt students can do to prepare for a gunman scenario is to sign up for the Emergency Notification Service on the my.pitt.edu website, which uses text, voice and e-mail messages to communicate to students in the event of an emergency.
Delaney will use discretion about what procedural information can be released to the public, Link said.
