Last night, you would have thought it was Ronald Ramon at the top.

Ramon built his resurgent 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3, despite lugging two banged up shoulders. This marks the second game in a row Ramon has shot better than 50 percent from 3-point range after making 4 of 8 against Seton Hall on Saturday.

Wallace, on the other hand, save a half-court prayer to beat the halftime buzzer, struggled to find his touch, converting on only 2 of 7 3-point attempts.

Seven-foot who?

DeJuan Blair was named yesterday as Big East Rookie of the Week – the third time this season he’s earned the distinction.

He was honored because of his 16-point and 11.5-rebound averages in Pitt’s wins over Seton Hall and South Florida, and his performance against the Hoyas last night could have him headed for a fourth.

The 6-foot-7 center scored 15 points, edging the 7-foot-2 Georgetown juggernaut Roy Hibbert, who had 12. Blair also grabbed nine rebounds.

“I love the banging. That’s why I came to the Big East,” Blair said. “Aaron [Gray] didn’t hit [Hibbert] hard enough in the Big East championship. I liked playing against him.”

Pittsburgh celebrity watch

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was in attendance and got a loud round of applause from the Oakland Zoo when his face flashed on the scoreboard during pregame warm-ups.

Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl also was at the game, as well as former Pitt quarterback Tyler Palko, who spent most of this NFL season on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.

Several Pitt football recruits were in the crowd, too, including the uncommitted Terrelle Pryor, the No. 1 player in the country according to Rivals.com. The Zoo chanted several times, “We want Pryor,” and Pitt commit Cameron Saddler led the cheer the second time around. Pryor, though, has already eliminated Pitt as a potential college choice.
