It didn’t take long for Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt to start revamping his coaching… It didn’t take long for Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt to start revamping his coaching staff.
Wannstedt fired offensive line coach Paul Dunn, who was hired three seasons ago in Wannstedt’s first year as head coach but failed to make ample improvements on a line that was inconsistent throughout the year.
According to reports from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the leading candidate to replace Dunn is Tony Wise, the offensive line coach for the New York Jets. Wise has been on the same coaching staff as Wannstedt in the NFL with the Bears, Cowboys and Dolphins and is a close friend of the Pitt coach.
Wannstedt will also be replacing secondary coach Chris Ball, who recently left Pitt for Washington State. Wannstedt is expected to promote graduate assistant Jeff Hafley to that position.
A Pitt alum, Dunn was a three-year letterman with the Panthers. He graduated from Pitt with a degree in administration of justice.
