The Colorado Rockies and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki are close to a record-breaking contract extension that would pay the rising star $30 million over the next six years, according to ESPN.com.

The contract will be the largest extension given in MLB history to a player with fewer than two years experience. The contract that previously held that distinction was a $23.45 million deal that Cleveland Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore signed in 2006.

Embattled skier Bode Miller captured his 28th World Cup Victory Sunday, winning the combined title for the slalom and downhill and setting a United States record for most World Cup victories, according to the Associated Press.

Miller, who flopped at the Turin Winter Olympics two years ago, said the record is “something you dream about as a kid.” NFL

The Buffalo Bills will hold a regular-season game in Toronto next season in an effort to strengthen the team’s Canadian fan base, pending league owners’ inevitable approval, ESPN.com reported.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head a list of four teams under consideration to play in the NFL’s game in the United Kingdom in the 2008 season. Other teams in the running are the Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks.

John Harbaugh was hired Friday as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, according to the Associated Press.

The 45-year-old has never been a head coach in the NFL but still received a four-year contract in the neighborhood of $2 million per year.

Harbaugh spent last season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary coach and will inherit a 5-11 team who recently parted ways with Brian Billick, who coached in Baltimore for nine years, leading his team to one Super Bowl victory.
