Pitt basketball player Gilbert Brown is questionable for Friday’s regular season opener… Pitt basketball player Gilbert Brown is questionable for Friday’s regular season opener against Houston Baptist because of a sore right (shooting) shoulder, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
Brown, who was redshirted last year because of an ankle injury, has not practiced since Pitt’s exhibition win over Indiana, Pa., Sunday.
“Someone came down on his shoulder as he was lifting it up,” Pitt coach Jamie Dixon told the Post-Gazette. “I’m a little concerned that it could be around for a little bit. I’m really happy with his progress, so this is a step back for him. We’ll see how he responds [today].”
Dixon also said Brown was able to shoot and do some running yesterday and is continuing to progress.
“He doesn’t feel like there’s a loss of strength, so that’s a good thing,” Dixon told the Post-Gazette. “Yesterday he hurt less. It’s heading in the right direction.”
Brown totaled 17 points in 41 minutes of action in Pitt’s two scrimmages, against Indiana, Pa., Sunday and against Pitt-Johnstown Thursday.
