Mike Pressler, the former head coach of the Duke men’s lacrosse… Pressler sues Duke

Mike Pressler, the former head coach of the Duke men’s lacrosse team, has sued the university, according to ESPN.com.

The lawsuit regards Pressler’s confidential agreement with the school, which he claims had been broken by comments made by Duke’s senior vice president John Burness.

Pressler was fired in spring 2006 after three of his players were accused of rape at an off-campus party.

Holyfield loses bout

Evander Holyfield failed to earn his fifth heavyweight title on Saturday, dropping a unanimous decision to Sultan Ibragimov.

Holyfield continued to show improvement after surgery on both of his shoulders, but couldn’t keep up with a younger and quicker Ibragimov. Holyfield is now in his 20th year as a heavyweight fighter.

Pirates release schedule

The Pirates released their 2008 tentative season schedule on Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

The schedule, which is highlighted by a visit from the New York Yankees.

The Pirates start their season on the road.

Kentucky stuns LSU

No. 1-ranked LSU lost for the first time this season, dropping a 43-37 decision to Kentucky in triple overtime on Saturday in Lexington, Ky.

Heisman Trophy candidate Andre Woodson accounted for four total touchdowns, leading a potent Kentucky attack past the Tigers at home.

LSU had previously won 13 straight and beaten the Wildcats in their last four meetings dating back to 1999.

Opponents averaged just 9.3 points and 197 yards per game against the top-ranked Tigers going into Saturday, but Kentucky’s offense accumulated 375 total yards in the win. -compiled by Mike Gladysz
