Fields Tased at club

Pitt basketball player Levance Fields was arrested in the Strip District late Saturday night… Pitt basketball player Levance Fields was arrested in the Strip District late Saturday night after the junior attempted to grab a police officer’s weapon.

The police affadavit describing the incident said Fields engaged in a shouting match with a police officer inside the nightclub Pure. The officer’s partner told Fields to stop shouting and swearing.

Outside the club, Fields began shouting again. One officer told Fields to stop, and Fields punched the officer in the chest with his right fist. Fields then grabbed the officer’s belt and weapon.

At that point, the second officer pulled Fields away from the first officer, and the first officer shot Fields in the chest with his Taser.

Fields was taken to Mercy Hospital and then Allegheny County Jail. He was charged with aggravated assault, disarming a police officer, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

“Earlier today, I was informed of an incident at an off-campus location involving Levance Fields,” Pitt basketball coach Jamie Dixon said in a release. “At this juncture, we will let the judicial process run its course before determining what disciplinary action is necessary.”
