Get in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit a little early this year and check out the Irish band Buille perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Carnegie Lecture Hall as part of the current Calliope concert series.

Buille, which began in 2004, creates traditional Irish music that also incorporates jazz and classical music. Its recently released self-titled album seamlessly blends these different musical styles and includes fast tempos along with some slower pieces.

Buille consists of Niall Vallely, who plays the concertina and is known internationally as one of Ireland’s greatest concertina players, his brother Caoimhin Vallely on piano and guitar player Donal Clancy.

Niall performed in another Calliope concert in the 2004-2005 season as a member of the Karen Casey Band.

Local singer-songwriter and guitar player Eve Goodman will open the show. Goodman’s music is based in the folk tradition, but has a modern twist. She previously spent four years in Nashville, Tenn., working on the popular monthly show, “Born to Cook,” and then returned to Pittsburgh where she currently works as the program coordinator for the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has already completed and released two albums, and her third is set to be released this spring.

Calliope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to contemporary and traditional folk music. To order tickets, call (412) 394-3353 or visit http://www.proartstickets.org.
