The actor was in Pittsburgh and on Pitt’s campus Tuesday filming a scene for the movie “Smart People,” currently in the production stages. Sarah Jessica Parker will star alongside Quaid in the film, who plays a widowed professor who finds a new love.
Police blocked off the Forbes Avenue entrance to South Bouquet Street as well as the part of Sennott Street between Oakland Avenue and South Bouquet for the filming. Sennott Street was used for equipment storage by the production crew while South Bouquet Street was used for the actual scene.
A bus stop, as well as a sign reading “Allegheny General Hospital,” were constructed as props for the scene on South Bouquet Street.
At the beginning of the scene, an old, tan Saab putters up South Bouquet Street and stops in front of Posvar Hall. A haggard-looking Quaid hops out, slams the door and starts running towards the building.
