Where exactly do the panthers go from here?

The fourth quarter of the UConn game all but summarizes the Pitt football season to this… The fourth quarter of the UConn game all but summarizes the Pitt football season to this point.

It started off well – Pitt was up 14 points with fewer than 10 minutes to play in the game, and the Panthers began the season 6-1.

Then, the ground started to slip.

UConn materialized a 98-yard scoring drive to narrow Pitt’s lead to seven, and Rutgers abused the Panthers at home, leaving them with a 6-2 record.

Things still may have been salvageable at that point, but the Huskies marched all over the Pitt defense and tied the game with only seconds left, and South Florida dealt the Panthers a crucial blow on the road.

The Panthers, then 6-3 and in desperate need of a win, found themselves in double-overtime against the Huskies when UConn quarterback D.J. Hernandez put the Panthers away with a 2-point conversion, leaving them with a 6-4 record and a distinct possibility of finishing the season 6-6.

We have a full-blown landslide.

Pitt has totally collapsed in the latter part of this season and only faces more doubt as the Panthers take on West Virginia tomorrow and Louisville the following week.
